Merchandise Manager – Warehouse Stationery
Meet Molly Hansen who is the Art and Craft Merchandise Manager for Warehouse Stationery.
Molly started her career on a graduate programme for Marks and Spencer followed by 7 years working for Home Retail Group as a Product Manager and then a Trend consultant for another large retailer. Molly then applied for a role at The Warehouse (part of TW Group) and moved from the UK to NZ. Her first role at The Warehouse was a Housewares Category Manager and after 2 years in this role she moved within TW Group to her current role at Warehouse Stationery. She has worked in retail for 19 years (15 years in the UK and 4 years in NZ).
As a Merchandise Manager at Warehouse Stationery, every day is different. Molly works with a diverse range of people – product designers, marketing, store operations, store teams, suppliers, and Team Members across the country. Her key responsibilities are to lead the Art and Craft team to deliver sales and margin that are in line with the company’s budgets. “Buying is a great job – especially when you get a product that really sells. It is really exciting when you know you have found something your customers want to buy and you can give it to them at a price they are happy to pay – it’s a win win.”
Molly has enjoyed her 4 years with TW Group and recommends both The Warehouse and Warehouse Stationery, as great places to work. She also adds, “The culture at Warehouse Stationery is very good, the team have fun, work hard, challenge and support each other. I believe the company has exciting future plans and will continue to be successful.” Her advice for someone who wants to work in a similar role to her is to “Get into a buying department to get experience, take any opportunity you can to learn and develop.”
