International Distribution Centre Manager – Ezibuy
Bernard Walsh is the International Distribution Centre Manager at EziBuy. In a nutshell, this role sees him coach the distribution team to meet and exceed the expectations of their internal and external customers. This requires ensuring that all orders are fulfilled in a timely manner – at EziBuy priority orders placed in the morning are sent off site the same day.
The EziBuy distribution team consists of 135 permanent team members and up to 135 temporary team members who work across 7 functional Business Units – each of which reports to a Team Manager who in turn reports to Bernard.
As well as managing people, Bernard manages the process and the cost – a crucial part of the role as any savings at his end directly impact the bottom line – hence being commercially savvy is a crucial skill in his role.
Originally having spent seven years in the Air Force, Bernard landed a Senior Supply Chain role with Kiwi Dairies while still in his 20’s. He followed this up with a stint at EziBuy before becoming the NZ Supply Chain Manager with Heinz Wattie’s and then the General Manager of a manufacturing and distribution company. Bernard then returned to EziBuy in his current capacity.
One of Bernard’s favourite aspects about working at EziBuy is that despite being the biggest company of its kind in Australasia the brand has retained it’s focus on people. Moreover, he enjoys the exciting nature of working in one of the biggest Distribution Centres in New Zealand and managing the performance of a world class team.
